Foundation Catholic Education Establishes SKOS Training Center for Educators

August 12, 2024

Foundation Catholic Education is pleased to announce the launch of the SKOS Training Center, a new initiative dedicated to the professional development of educators. This significant step underscores the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to advancing education and empowering teachers through high-quality training and long-term collaborative efforts with various stakeholders.

The training center aims to be a hub of excellence, providing educators with the latest pedagogical strategies, technology integration skills, leadership skills and subject-specific knowledge ensuring they remain at the forefront of their field. All trainings offered to the Foundation will be channeled via the Training Center.

The training services at the SKOS Training Center will commence on Monday, September 2, 2024. The offerings are divided into five key sections:1. Catholic Identity, 2. Pedagogical and Didactics, 3. Child Development and Creative Development,4. Integration of Technology and 5. Leadership and Organization.

The training center operates on a two- semester system, namely from September to December and January to March. Each staff member is required to complete at least two professional development courses per academic year, with the option to pursue additional courses as desired. The flexible course offerings will be available in both face-to-face and online formats, catering to the varied needs of educators.

To enroll in a course, staff members will need to log into the SKOS portal using the sched registration program, accessible via the SKOS website. The courses will cater to both those seeking new knowledge and those wishing to refresh their existing skills.

Foundation Catholic Education is proud to introduce this initiative, which has been a long-standing request from our educators. The establishment of the SKOS Training Center marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to support and uplift our teaching staff. As the Training Center becomes more established, we look forward to extending our services to other school boards across the island, furthering our impact on education.
